Privacy Policy

KittyScan ("we", "our", "the app") is built with privacy as a default. This policy explains exactly what is collected, how it's used, and what stays on your device.

1. Summary

• No accounts required. You can use the app without signing in.
• No analytics, no tracking, no ads. We do not use the AppTrackingTransparency framework because we do not track you.
• Cat photos are not stored on our servers. They pass through during analysis only.
• Everything else lives on your device (cat profiles, reports, diary, chat history).

2. What We Process

Cat photos (transient processing only)

When you tap "Analyze," the image you selected is sent over HTTPS to our backend (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude AI for visual analysis. The analysis result is returned to your device. We do not retain the photo on our servers, and Anthropic processes the image solely to return the analysis.

Purchase information

In-app purchases (analysis packs, Pro Monthly subscription) are processed entirely by Apple. We receive a transaction receipt to verify your entitlement. We do not see your payment method or Apple ID.

Optional sign-in (Sign in with Apple / Google)

If you choose to sign in to sync history across devices, your Apple ID or Google account email is stored only to identify your account on our backend. You can use the app fully without signing in.

3. What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) for advertising or tracking.
• We do not run third-party analytics (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Facebook SDK, etc.).
• We do not share data with data brokers.
• We do not link your activity in this app with data from other apps or websites for advertising.

4. Data Stored on Your Device

The following live locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's SwiftData and are never uploaded to us unless you explicitly export them:

• Cat profiles (name, age group, photos you add, known issues you note)
• Health reports generated from analyses
• Diary entries (meals, water, mood)
• Chat history with the in-app AI

5. Third-Party Services

• Cloudflare Workers — secure relay for API calls. Photos pass through during a single API request and are not stored.
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — performs the vision analysis. Inputs and outputs are governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Apple StoreKit — handles all purchases. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
• Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In — only if you choose to use them.

6. Children's Privacy

KittyScan is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Delete everything: Settings → Delete All Data wipes every profile, report, and diary entry from your device.
• Cancel subscription: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → KittyScan.
• Withdraw photo access: iOS Settings → KittyScan → Photos.
• Export your data: The Share button on any report exports as PNG / JSON / PDF.

8. Data Retention

We do not retain photos. If you sign in for sync, your account record is kept until you delete it (email us to request deletion).

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
